Short answer: Frozen or blank screens are a common 2019–2020 RDX complaint. A soft reset or pulling the audio fuse often brings it back for a while. If it keeps happening, or you get crackling audio or no sound, Acura has a warranty extension for loose network connectors behind the system. Ask the dealer about it.
Symptom: The center screen freezes, gets stuck on the startup disclaimer, or goes black; the audio cuts out; or the speakers pop and crackle.
What to check first
- Try the system reset. Owners hold the three buttons above the touchpad to reach the service menu and run a reset.
- As a last resort, owners pull the audio system fuse for a minute or so to force a reboot. Your owner's manual shows which fuse it is.
- Make sure the software is current.
- Ask about the MOST bus connector warranty extension if the problem keeps coming back.
Likely causes
- Software freeze. Owners on AcuraZine and r/Acura use a system reset or a fuse pull to clear one-off freezes.
- Loose MOST network connectors. Acura bulletin 21-009 extends coverage for these connector repairs on 2019–2020 RDX.
- Failed audio/display unit. If connectors and software check out, a unit may need replacing.
What it usually costs
Resets are free, and connector repairs under Acura's warranty extension are covered. I couldn't find a reliable published price for an out-of-warranty unit replacement.
Is it safe to keep driving?
Usually yes, but a frozen screen can take the backup camera with it. If the camera isn't working, use your mirrors and back up slowly until it's fixed.

Recalls, bulletins and complaints in plain words
- No recall covers the infotainment freeze.
- Acura service bulletin 21-009 (warranty extension, 2019–2020 RDX MOST bus network connectors): a loose connection in the car's audio/display network can cause popping or crackling speakers, a blank display or no sound. Acura extended coverage on this repair; the dealer checks your VIN for eligibility.
- Fuel pump recalls 20V314, 21V215 and 23V858 cover many 2019–2020 RDXs. A failing pump can make the engine stall. If your car is part of these recalls, the dealer replaces the pump for free.

What owners report
- AcuraZine owners posted about a 2019 infotainment system frozen and another frozen infotainment system, including pulling the audio fuse to bring it back.
- A 2019 RDX owner on r/Acura kept having infotainment problems that came and went, and another found their 2019 RDX screen stuck on the disclaimer message.
My take
My advice as a former car salesman: on a used 2019–2020 RDX, ask the dealer to run the VIN for the connector extension and the fuel pump recalls before you buy. Both are free fixes if they haven't been done.
Vehicle focus: 2019–2020 Acura RDX.
Safety / mechanic note
A frozen screen can take out the backup camera. Verify with a mechanic.
