Ask CarFix

Terms of Use

Effective date: October 15, 2026

These Terms of Use cover your use of Ask CarFix (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

Information only

The Site gives general information summarized from owner forums and public recall and bulletin data. It is not professional mechanical advice and not a diagnosis of your vehicle. Always consult a qualified mechanic before relying on it.

Safety

Work on brakes, steering, airbags, fuel systems and high-voltage hybrid/EV systems can cause serious injury or death. Treat these as shop jobs for a qualified professional. If your car feels unsafe, stop driving it. See our Disclaimer & Disclosures.

No warranty

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that any information is accurate, complete or current. Cost figures are rough estimates from owner reports and will vary by region, shop and parts.

Use at your own risk; limitation of liability

You use the Site and any information on it at your own risk. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Ask CarFix and the people who run it are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damage, injury, loss or cost arising from your use of the Site, from repairs or decisions based on it, or from third-party sites or products it links to.

Your submissions

When you send a “What actually fixed it?” report or a Request an Answer form, you give Ask CarFix a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual license to use, edit and publish what you submitted in anonymized or aggregated form, for example as confirmed-fix counts or in a researched answer page. We don't publish your name, email or other personal information. We may review, edit, decline or remove any submission. Please submit only information that is truthful and that you have the right to share.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Site to send spam or automated junk submissions, scrape or crawl it in a way that overloads it or gets around technical limits, interfere with its security or operation, or post anything illegal, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights. We may block access that breaks these rules.

Third-party links, ads and affiliate links

The Site links to forums, NHTSA, retailers and other third-party sites we don't control, and may show ads from third parties. Some parts links are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. See our Disclaimer & Disclosures and Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
