Symptom: The rear sits low after parking, a 'check suspension' message, or the compressor running a lot.

Likely causes

  1. Air springs. Lincoln and Grand Marquis owners usually find cracked rubber air springs. Soap testing the springs, lines and solenoids finds the leak.
  2. Compressor and module. If both sides drop, owners check the compressor and run the factory auto test.

DIY or shop?

DIY for many owners. Turn the suspension switch off before jacking.

Useful steps

  1. Turn off the air suspension switch before lifting.
  2. Soap test springs and fittings.
  3. Replace springs in pairs.
