Symptom: An EPS warning light, suddenly heavier steering at parking speeds, or assist that fades when electrical load is high.

Likely causes

  1. Battery and grounds. CR-V owners often clear intermittent EPS warnings by replacing a weak battery and cleaning grounds. The EPS motor needs stable voltage.
  2. EPS rack / sensor. If voltage is good and the light returns, shops diagnose the rack and torque sensor. Rack replacement is a common end path on higher-mileage 3rd-generation CR-Vs.
  3. Wiring / fuses. Less common, but a blown EPS fuse or damaged harness will kill assist immediately.
